Mary Kom to return to national boxing camp
Since the Tokyo Olympics, the majority of boxing's big names have been out of the ring. The boxers are scheduled to return after a five-month hiatus.
The Sports Authority of India has added the names of Amit Panghal, Vikas Krishan, and MC Mary Kom to the ongoing national boxing camps at NIS Patiala and the IGI Stadium in New Delhi.
Other boxers who have been included are Satish Kumar, Manish Kaushik, and Ashish Kumar.
Since January 3, a total of 63 men boxers in various weight divisions, as well as 27 coaching and support staff, have been at the Patiala camp.
In the women's division, about 45 boxers (57 accepted), including Olympic bronze medalist Lovlina Borgohain, and 25 coaching/support staff have been practising in New Delhi for the past week.
Trials were held by the BFI in order to select a team for the U-22 Asian Championships in Patiala.
Though the team has yet to be announced, Arundhati Choudhary (70kg) and Jasmine (trial winners) are anticipated to compete.
The event will take place in Uzbekistan starting on January 22.
